Spring your Room into Fashion

Spring is almost here! Now is the perfect time to start planning and re-decorating your room for the warmer months to come. There are many ways you can update your room that can fit your time frame and budget. Here are a few things that you can do.

Spring Clean
One of the first things that you can start by doing now is to clean out your room and closets. Go through the items that you have not used in the past year and ask yourself if you can re purpose them or use them in any way. If you no longer have any use for them, discard them to make way for your new decor. You can reuse furniture by painting it a different color or changing the upholstery. Store any bedding or items that are for winter use only. This might be a good time to change your duvet to one that is lighter and cooler.

Lighten up your color
One of the best ways to get in the spring mood is by lightening up the paint color in your room. If you have warm, dark colors, you can update your room by choosing lighter, cooler shades or bright, energetic colors. Some paint trends for this season include grayish-blues, earth tones, pastel colors, metallic paints, and contrasting colors, think a house in the Hamptons for inspiration.  If you are looking for something more adventurous, you can go for the bright color trend with aqua, lime green, bright blue, or this year’s color, tangerine orange.

Add patterns
If you want to break the monotony in your room, adding patterns is the way to go. If you are not ready for a big commitment you can update your room with bedding or curtains in bold patterns or an eye-catching chair or loveseat, patterns are also showing up on walls, ceilings, and floors this season. You can paint your walls in a chevron pattern using painter’s tape or paint designs on your floor using a stencil.

Accessorize
Accessorizing the room is the easiest, fastest, and cheapest way to achieve a new look for this spring. Add items in bright or pastel spring colors, such as a yellow lamp, bright pink pillows, or colorful fresh flowers. One of the biggest trends this year is groups of items as home decor, such as grouping pictures frames, plates, and artwork. Another trend that is still going strong this year is silhouettes. You can create your own silhouette frame in bright, spring colors. Accessories this season seem to be more eclectic and vintage than modern and minimalistic. Industrial-themed accessories, such as hanging light bulbs, exposed pipes, and metal items, are also a big trend this year.
