I had been having a bit of a hard time with the pillows in our living room. Pretty, yes. I certainly thought they were.
But also a tad boring when coupled with our couches.
I was simply underwhelmed by their presence. I attributed this primarily to the fact that the color scheme was too monochromatic (with the exception of the suzani pillow, though I thought that was too small for that couch). However, because I don't have money trees growing in my backyard, I considered my hands tied and allowed myself to be content with the situation. If I was out shopping and noticed pillows, I would check out the selection. With my tight budget in mind, I had no interest in buying anything unless I was convinced it would solve my pillow woes.
Last weekend, I found a lovely set of fennel-moss green pillows at good ole TJMaxx for a very reasonable price. They are made of a satin-y fabric that looks quite elegant, thus dressing up the three-seater couch. Additionally, the pillows feature a quilt-like pattern in the material which contributes to the pillows' elegance as well as making it more interesting to the eye.
You may be able to tell from this photo that we have a simply slip cover on this couch, so I kept the original oblong black-and-white pillow and the circular button pillow on the couch in the interest of fancy-ing up the cover.
With the left over pillow, I threw it over onto the smaller couch and, Wah-Lah! I dressed up the second couch too!
(This picture doesn't really do justice to the leather couch) |
Next up, I did some rounds and gathered fabric samples for the chair I told you about in my garbage person post. I will be posting the samples soon, I'd love to hear what you think of the options!
